A Valentine for You

This valentine I send to you
Is not done up in lace;
It has no flowered border
Nor a cupid on its face.
It isn't tied with ribbons
In little bows of blue;
It doesn't smell of lilacs
And it isn't even new!

But it is full of loving thoughts
For only you alone,
Recalling tender yesterdays
That you and I have known.
I have wanted so to tell you
Many times before today,
Of the sweetness you have added
To the miles along the way.

For the meadows grow the greener
As we wander hand in hand;
You have made my life a heaven
And the world a promised land.
Two lives closely joined together,
Such as we many never part!
For your valentine, my darling,
I am sending you my heart!

Forever Valentine
I love your pretty valentines,
Red paper hearts with lace.
But the heart you give me every day
Will always hold first place.

"I Love You" inscribed in gold,
Has meaning sweet and true,
But it can never mean as much
Unless it's said by you.

I'll store the paper hearts away
That time will tear apart,
But keep three words. "I Love You",
Forever in my heart.
