RICHARD HODGES TO JOHN FLOYD 110 ACRES

 

THIS INDENTURE made this 19th day of September ammo. 1749 Between Richard Hodges of the County of Beaufort & province of North Carolina of the one part & John Floyd of the county & province afs WITNESSETH that Richard Hodges for the consideration of thirty one pounds sterling, in hand paid by John Floyd I do acquit S'd John Floyd & his heirs, have sold conveyed & confirmed & by these presents sell convey & confirm unto John Floyd his heirs & afsigns all the right title interest & property in & to a parcel of land on the north side of Tranters Creek, containing 100 & ten acres, more or lefs beginning on the point, running into the Herring run to a white oak swamp thence up the swamp to the back line to Holland corner thence with Hollands line to Thomas Williams corner in a pond thence to a cypress on the side of the creek thence down the creek to the first station formerely conveyed to Benjamin Peyton by deed of sale dated November -, 1741.

To have and hold said land and premises with the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto John Floyd his heirs to his & their use forever and I Richard for me an my heirs do covenant and agree with John Floyd & his heirs that I Richard Hodges have good title to said land & premises and will forever will warrant & defend s'd land & premises unto John Floyd his heirs against the claims and demands of any person whatsoever and that I will make any further conveyance that shall be reasonable for the better confirmation of this deed of sale to John Floyd and his heirs.

       In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the date above mentioned.
