RICHARD HOLLAND TO RICHARD HODGES 110 ACRES

 

Know, all, men by these presents that I Richard Holland of the County Beaufort

In the province of North Carolina, Taylor (sic), for & in consideration

of the sum of one hundred & eighty pounds, current bill money of North Carolina & now in

hand paid before the ensealing & deliver here of, the receipt whereof ~  

I hereby acknowledge

& myself therewith fully satisfied Contented & paid by Richard Hodges, hath granted

bargained Sold Conveyed & Confirmed, & by these presents do give grant bargain Sell

convey & confirm unto the said Richard Hodges of the county & province afs’d plantor

a certain tract or parcel of land lying & being Situated on the north side of the Pamptico

River & on the north side of Tranters Creek, containing by Estimation one hundred

& ten acres, be the same more of lefs, bounded as follows Viz ‘ as beginning on the point,

thence up the Herring run Creek to the white oak Swamp, thence up the said swamp

to the back line, to the said Hollands corner tree, thence along the said Hollands line

to Thomas Williams Corner tree Standing in a Small pond & is a water oak, thence

to the first Station, being a part of a Tract or parcel of land formerly mortgaged

by James Singleton to Simon Alderson former public treasurer & on default of the

paying said mortgage since sold at public vendue by Virtue of an act of Afsembly

made at Edenton Nov. 6th 1741 by Benjamin Peyton the new public treasurer &

will appear by a deed of Sale from said treasurer to Said Holland bearing date the

ninth day of November 1741.

To have & to hold the Said tract or parcel of land, & all & Singular the

Promises with the appourtenences unto the said Richard Hodges his heirs & afsigns, to

The only use benefits thereof of the said Richard Hodges his heirs & afsigns forever,

And I the S’d Richard Holland do covenant promise & agree to & with the said

Richard Hodges, that I have in myself good right full power & lawful authority

To Sell & convey the Same, and that, the said Richard Hodges his heirs & afsigns, Shall

& may from time to time & as all times forever here after peaceable & quietly have hold

use occupy pofsefs & enjoy the Said promises to him the said Richard Hodges, his heirs &

afsigns against the lawful claims or demand of any person whatsoever for ever hereafter

to warrant & defend.

In Witnefs whereof I have hereunto Set my hand & Seal this

Ninth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred &

Forty & one.
