MATES FOREVER

For the last fifty years we shared our lives, We shared our days, we shared our nights. We shared each other's sorrows and joys, We shared our souls, they united as one. I can still feel the warmth of his kiss, The squeeze of his hand on the bed of death The grief and pain were matched by none, But his soul lives on, we're united as one. My daily life is lonely and barren. Sometimes I'm lost in a sea of grief, With unopened mail, unreturned calls, My soul cries out, still united as one. Friends stop in to offer support. They remember the oneness we had with each other. Our house seems so big, so cold since he's gone, But his soul warms mine, still united as one.
