OUR LOVE THE SEA

We sat at dawn, my child and I, In our sacred little room. We watched the sea, today so clear, And saw the rising sun. We watched our dogs across the dunes, Return from their run to the sea. We were saying goodbye to the place we called home, The wonderful place by the sea. The sun at dawn cast light of hope, Warmth the town could never share. The sea to the west extended it's hand, It asked us to be it's friend. We're leaving soon to a faraway land Where jobs await, a promise for us, But we love the sea and the magic it holds, The treasures and love it shared. We'll take our treasures, the gifts from the sea. We've enjoyed it's beauty, it's rage and calm, The crab boats at dawn, the surfers at dusk, The seagulls who swoop and keep the sand clear. My child and I will take with us the memory of the sea, A special place within our hearts for only her and me. Pamela Pauley-Perreault
