![]() The Astraflex 55 and the Exakta Real and some lenses... Nov 22, 1996 This morning the postman brought me a little envelope from Canada... |
I opened the envelope and I found some interesting photos. I was waiting for them (Gary wrote me before) because I saw (too late!) this strange camera on the Pacific Rim Camera List.
Astraflex Just ordered an unusual Exakta VX version 2 with an "Astraflex 55" nameplate rivetted over the Exakta name and the serial number ground off. I have seen this name used on Prakticas and Contax D's but never an Exakta. It was a house brand name for a store in New York, but why the # is ground off I do not know. I will send you photos of it as soon as I can. Still no word on the Ihagee Jr. (I can't sleep!) Gary Astraflex is here! Today I at last received the Astraflex 55. You can see that the Exakta name has been ground off and as aluminium plate has been rivetted over top. The quality of the nameplate is not perfect. The serial number is ground off but you can still see it with the light at a certain angle. Looks like 754158. The overall condition is exc. Just now I made some photos and will send them to you tomorrow by air mail. This weekend was the Vancouver show and I found 3 nice lenses, a 100 2.8 auto Steinheil Macro-Quinar, 240 5.5 Tele-Xenar (heavy black and chrome) manual, a Schact 35 3.5 semi-auto, 200 f4 Meyer Oristigor pre-set all in exc cond. Also I found some stereo things, a box of about 300 Viewmaster reels for a good price. At last I contacted the guy with the Ihagee Jr. and he does not want to sell it right now but said he will give me first chance if he does. I got the serial number, 413598 and lens 607455, he says yours looks in better condition than his. I told him about your web site and he was very impressed after looking through it. He collects all cameras and has a place in his heart for Exaktas.
