The appropriate home for the Master of Arts in Sustainability Studies will be in the newly constructed Sustainability Center. The Master of Arts in Sustainability Studies will report to the Dean of the School of Social Science and Human Services, then to the Provost of Ramapo College.

The core activity of the Director of MASS will be the initiation and the administration of the Master of Arts in Sustainability Studies. However, other mission-related activities will be introduced for discussion below. The responsibilities of the Director will be to

An Administrative Assistant would assist the Director in the daily operations of the Master of Arts in Sustainability Studies. A graduate assistant and a student aide may also assist.

Note: The staffing of courses by faculty and the budget proposal will be distributed separately.

Timelines and Approvals

The approval process is unclear now, but, minimally, requires approval by Board of Trustees and possibly Commission on Higher Education. The program would reasonably be scheduled to be rolled out in September, 2010. Here is the likely flow of approval:
