PENROSERALEIGH, NC-- David R. Brooks and Dr. Nancy Penrose were married 6 Dec., 1997 at Saint Mark's Chapel in Mordecai Historic Park. Dr. Thomas jackson officiated at the double ring ceremony.
David is the son of Mrs. E. Adelaide Brooks and the later E. Robert Brooks. He is employed in the finance division of Glaxo Wellcome, Inc., a drug and chemical company, in Research Triangle Park near here.
Nancy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert l. Penrose of Philadelphia, Pa. She is an associate professor of English at North Carolina State University in Raleigh. The couple now resides in Raleigh.
PERRYRALEIGH, NC-- Robert Wayne Brooks and Amy Elizabeth Perry were married at Saint Mary's Chapel here 13 Dec. Robert is the son of Gilbert Horace Brooks of Winston-Salem and Mrs. Linda Brooks Paris of Lynchburg, Va. He is a student at North Carolina State University here and is employed with the North Carolina State Geological Survey.
Amy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Lamar Perry Jr. of Louisburg, NC. She is a graduate of Saint Mary's High School and College and Meredith College. She is employed with GE Capital Mortgage Insurance. She debuted at the 1988 Terpsichorean Club ball.
The double ring ceremony was officiated by Rev. Richard T. Clayton. Rebecca Drake Joyner, Louisburg, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Kimberly Michelle Czornij, Raleigh, Virginia Lee Gary, Memphis, Tn., Shelle Stoughton Kelly, Nassau, Bahamas, Laura Elizabeth Lassiter, Dallas, Tx., Katherine Atkins Mattocks, Charlotte, Miriam Mason Thompson, Wilmington and Sara Scott Ford Wright, Wrightsville Beach. Meredith CArter Matchen, Gibsonville, the bride's cousin, was flower girl.
Christopher Howard Brooks, Richmond, Va. and the groom's brother, was best man. Groomsmen were Christopher Smith Gilbert, Raleigh, William Griffin Giles, Wilmington, Robert Nisbit Giordano, Missoula, Mt., Rayner Varser Snead III*, Myrtle Beach, SC and Benedict Joseph Kananaugh Jr., Peter Campbell Sackett and Randall Jeb Turille, all of Lynchburg, Va. John M. Flippin Jr., Raleigh, read scriptures. Greeters were Jamie Leigh Neal, Lousiburg and Hillary Bowen Gibson, Longmont, Co. Phyllis Ihrie, organist; Van Zimmerna, on trumpet; and Joy Butler Clayton, soloist; provided music.
BARNETTROCKY MOUNT, NC-- Mary Katherine Brooks and Thomas Edward ("Tommy") Barnett were married 25 Apr. at First Baptist Church here.
The double-ring ceremony was presided over by Rev. William Grisham.
Katherine is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Rex Books of Rocky Mount. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee Brooks of Raleigh and Mrs. John Murray Compton of Summerville, SC and the late Mr. Compton.
Tommy is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Howard Barnett, Raleigh and grandson of Mrs. John Charles McKenzie, Raleigh and the late Mr. McKenzie and Mrs. Howard Taft Barnett, Meadow Bridge, W. Va. and the late Mr. Barnett.
A reception was held at Benvenue Country Club following the wedding. The coupled honeymooned in Mexico and the Bahamas. They will live in Garner, NC.
Engagements MARTINCOLUMBUS, Ga.-- Larry and Sandra Martin of Phenix City, Ala. announce the engagement of their daughter Elizabeth Diane Martin to Bradley Stevens Brooks of Columbus.
Brad is the son of Weyman and Josaphine Brooks of Columbus. He is a 1985 graduate of Pacelli High School here and a 1989 graduate of Columbus State University. He is employ-ed as an accountant with Harvey Lumber Co. here.
Elizabeth is a 1994 graduate of Smiths Station High School and is now attending Auburn University.
The wedding is planned for 27 June at Smiths Station Baptist Church north of Phenix City.
