READ CAREFULLY

TIP for preparing a query: give as much information as you can . . .

about your ancestor. The more information you include with your query, the better the chance of someone else being able to "link up". If you don't know dates, then estimate a time period ("1760's"; or abt "1810", etc.); in other words, if it is obvious they were born in the late 1800's, then say so. If you know these facts, be sure and include:

One-line queries usually don't get much response simply because there isn't enough information for anyone to make a connection so try to provide as much data as you can. Please limit your query to about one-half of a regular typed page.

Remember -- someone else might not know about your ancestor but they may know about a brother or sister and thus be able to help you make a connection.

EXPLANATION of terms used:

The following abbreviations are used in the queries.
All states are abbreviated by using the new standard US Post Office abbreviations.

abt about
b. born
bur buried
cem cemetery
ch children
Co. county
gg great great
mar married

FRANCIS SAMUEL ("Bud") JOHNSON
ca 1852 Cobb Co., Ga.

My gg grandfather was FRANCIS SAMUEL ("Bud") JOHNSON, likely b Cobb Co., Ga. in 1852. His brother was RICHARD BENJAMIN ("Boat") JOHNSON, born 1854. Sometime after their mother died (prior to 1860 census of Floyd Co. GA) they went to live with their Aunt Minerva Rollin's family. Minerva was 18 and living with what we believe are her parents. It is told that Minerva "kidnapped" the boys because of an abusive step-mother. We suspect the mother of the boys to be Minerva's sister - name unknown. They are listed on the 1860 Floyd Co. census but not as JOHNSONs. The Rollins family moved to Arkansas and raised the boys there. The father of the boys, given name unknown, had another son named CASS JOHNSON. Richard Benjamin was said to have a wooden leg.

AUBREY BARTLETT JOHNSON
ship captain 1976

I am trying to find information about the man I believe is my sister's father. I was 16 when she was born in 1977 but I don't recall ever actually meeting him. I am not positive about the last name, it is either Johnston or Johnson, but I am fairly sure his first name is AUBREY and his middle name is Bartlett. This gentleman was the captain of the MV Achilles, and was on the west coast of the US in about May 1976. I am trying to find him because my sister has a medical condition (subclavian steal syndrome) for which she may need surgery. I thought that if she should need a blood, etc. donor and none of her siblings was able to help, that being able to contact her biological father would be a good thing. This is not, at this point, a life threatening condition. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

MARION JOHNSON
1846 Oh. or Mo.

Looking for info on my great grandfather MARION JOHNSON (8 Sep 1846 in either Ohio or MO--13 Feb 1930 Sherwood, Tn.). Do not know his parents; his mother supposedly from Ohio and father from NY. He had a brother, AUGUSTUS JOHNSON; no info on him. Marion came from Charleston to Franklin Co. TN. abt. 1900 and mar my grandmother MINNIE MYRTLE BARNES, She was born in 1878 in TN. Marion was a farmer, coal miner and part-time preacher. He died in Sherwood and is buried there. He is said to have been in the War for Southern Independence and though there are a few Marion Johnsons listed in the rosters and muster rolls of that time, I don't know if he served in the northern army or Confederate States Army. Rumor is that his father was a doctor and was educated in England. Don't know if this is true or not. Any help would be appreciated.
