HENRY EVERETT ODOM Sr.
Retired Logger & Truck Driver

COLUMBIA, SC--Mr. Henry Everette Odom Sr. died 19 Mar 2000, at Providence Memorial Hospital, Columbia, SC at age 62.

Burial was in Barnwell Memorial Park, Barnwell, SC.

Henry was a native of Bamberg County. He retired as a logger and a truck driver. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Survivors include daughters, Pearl Odom Dyches, Williston, Sara Odom Keykendall, Barnwell, and Katherine Odom Scorthorn, Columbia; a sister, Shirley Odom Brotzman, Augusta; and seven grand-children.

WALTER WALLACE ODOM
Native of Eunice, La.

DENHAM SPRINGS, La.--Walter Wallace Odom, a resident of Denham Springs, died 1 Apr 1999, at a Baton Rouge, La. hospital, aged 87.

Walter was born in Eunice, La., the son of Edward and Odom and Minnie Andrus.

He was a Methodist and a Mason, having served as a past master of the Grangeville Masonic Lodge No. 231 F&A.M. He was also a member of the Denham Springs Masonic Lodge No. 297.

Burial was at Roselawn Memorial Park, Baton Rouge.

Walter is survived by wife of 59 years, Anais Pecquet Odom; two nephews, Charles and Bobby Norman; and a niece, Carolyn Morain. Preceded in death by parents and a sister, Thelma Hidalgo.

Dr. KEITH C. ODOM
Professor at Texas Christian Univ.

FORT WORTH, Tx.--Dr. Keith C. Odom, 68, died here 1 Feb 2000, from bone-marrow cancer.

Keith was born 22 Mar 1931 in Healdton, Ok.

Keith was a retired professor emeritus at Texas Christian University here. He taught 19-century English literature at TCU from 1961 until his retirement in 1996. He became an authority on the literary works of Jane Austen and the Bronte sisters. He wrote many books and literary articles.

During his tenure at TCU, Keith also served as director of the TCU Honors Program and as president of the College English Association.

Keith received his bachelor's degree from East Central State College in Oklahoma, a master's degree from Oklahoma State University and his Ph.D. degree from the University of Wisconsin.

After he retired from TCU, Keith opened and operated the Odom Books store o South University Drive, which specialized in rare and antiquarian books. He was an avid collector of rare books. He and his family took many trips to England to search for such books.

"His whole life centered on books and education," his wife, Glenna Odom, said.

Keith also served as the first president of the board of directors of Fort Worth Key School. He was a member of University Christian Church.

The funeral was held on the TCU campus at Robert Carr Chapel. Burial was in Greenwood Memorial Park Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife Glenna; mother Wilma Odom, Midland, Tx.; sons, Dennis Odom and Clayton Odom, both of Fort Worth; father-in-law Glenn O. Wilson, Nocona, Tx.; a niece and a nephew.

Mrs. ROBERT PAGE ODOM Sr.
WW II Army Nurse

BATON ROUGE, La.--Eleanor Gay (Gay) Tabscott Odom died here 20 Jan. 2000 at Our Lady of the Lake Medical Center at age 81. She was the wife of Robert Page Odom Sr.

Gay was born Feb. 7, 1918, in a small farmhouse at Richlands, W.Va., the third child of Harry Franklin Tabscott and Elva Jane Neal. She was married to Robert Page Odom Sr. for 51 years.

She graduated from high school in Lewisburg, WVA. in 1935 and then moved to Baltimore, Md. Where she entered nursing school at Maryland General Hospital. She graduated in 1939. She then joined the US Army and served proudly during World War II on both the Pacific and European fronts. Upon her discharge after the war's end, she had attained the rank of First Lieutenant.

After the war, she worked for many years as a nurse for Louisiana State University and retired in 1979.

Gay was a lifetime member of Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post No. 3693. She was also a longtime member of the Oak Grove Home Makers Club and the Women's Missionary Union. She was also a very active member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Gay was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Lewis Tabscott.

Burial was at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

She is survived by husband; daughter Linda Odom and her husband Marvin Daniel Hildebrand; sons, Robert Page Odom Jr. and his wife Randi Metz Odom and Joseph Benjamin Odom; sister Ruth Francis Fitch; brother Charles Franklin Tabscott; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren.

GLADYS ODOM CARPENTER
Retired Cloth Inspector

AUGUSTA, Ga.--Gladys Odom Carpenter, 85, of 571 Ascauga Lake Road, died at her home here 8 Feb. 1999.

Gladys was retired after several years with the Graniteville Co. as a cloth inspector. She was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Burial will be in Graniteville Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Marvin F. ("Yank") Carpenter; a daughter, Kathy Rachels, North Augusta; and sisters, Louise Winter and Margie West, both of Graniteville.

MARVIN E. ODOM
Retired Tool Planner

FORT WORTH, Tx. -- Marvin E. Odom, 78, died here 4 Dec., 1999.

Marvin Odom was born April 27, 1921, in Fort Worth, the son of Sam E. and Gennell Odom.

He retired from General Dynamics. Marvin was a 32nd degree Mason and received a 50-year pin from Lodge No. 942. He was also an active member of Azle Avenue Baptist Church.

Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Survivors include daughters, Poncy Odom McDonnell and her husband, Larry of Granbury, Tx. and Nelda Odom Sledd and her husband, Maury of Bedford; brothers, Roy Odom and George Odom, both of Fort Worth; sister, Erlene Hill of Euless; two grandsons; four granddaughters; and seven great-grandchildren.
