OLLIE MAE SANDERS

I recently found out I was adopted. My birth mother is OLLIE MAE SANDERS. At one time she lived in Lincolnton, possibly Gastonia, NC. I am not certain about my birthdate. There were two birth certificates - one was 25 Jan 1944 and the other 21 Jan. My birth father was supposed to be BROCK CHAMBERS, also in Lincolnton. There were supposed to have been quite a few other children, possibly as many as fourteen, all of whom might have been given up for adoption. I have located one brother, Harvey Holbrooks, in Bessemer City, NC. My birth name was Frankie Junior Sanders.

WILLIAM SAUNDERS

I hope you can help me in my search for WILLIAM SAUNDERS. My g grandfather was GEORGE STUART SAUNDERS who was born in Kildare Ireland, he may have been born under the surname of SANDS. In a search of British military records, it seems he enlisted in 1881 at 18 under the name CHARLES SANDS which he changed to GEORGE STUART SAUNDERS around 1882. He subsequently came to Africa with the British forces where he fought in Egypt etc. He eventually settled in a small farming community where he married LUCY WHEELAN; they had 2 ch, one my grandfarther DESMOND DEVONISH STUART-SAUNDERS and MAURICE GEORGE STUART SAUNDERS. George joined the Mounted police in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa 1893 -94 where he listed WILLIAM SAUNDERS as next of kin, address South Manchester, Connecticut, USA. Unfortunately the family in South Africa have lost any and all contact with other descendants from this family either in Ireland or the USA.

WILLIAM SANDERS
son of Isaac

We are descended from WILLIAM and MARIAH SANDERS who came to Robertson and Davidson Co., TN from either VA or SC around the turn of 1800. William was son of ISAAC SANDERS. Most of the children of William and Mariah Sanders migrated from TN to Williamson Co., IL in the 1830's. Only one son, RICHMOND SANDERS did not go with the rest of the family to Illinois but rather to Commerce and Illmo in Scott Co., MO. Richmond mar MARY RASPBERRY (Rasbury) and had 5 sons who fought for the Union Army (although they were a Southern family - please don't hold it against us :). They started the Sanders Family Cemetery on their farm in 1842, which is still in the family to this day. The Sanders are still in and around this area. My grandfather, JOHN MACK SANDERS II is alive there at 85 yrs. An extensive book was written in 1984 about descendants of Richmond and Mariah by Holden E. "Gene" Sanders, retired attorney and former state senator from Georgia. A recent edition of the book came out in Jan. 1998 and be obtained from Floyd Davis, P.O. Box 476, Energy, IL. 62933-0476,
