between
Johannah Coldum of Lynn, Mass.
and her Step Son
Clement Coldum of Gloucester, Mass.

This indenture made ye twentyeth daye of September Anno:Dom:1675 betweene Johannah Coldum of Linn in ye county of Essex widow of Thomas Coldum of ye same town & county lately deceased of ye one part & Clement Coldum of the other pt witnesseth yt ye sd Johannah Coldum for & in consideration tht shee being disabled by reason of age to manage her businesse as slsoe being deprived of other help which her husband had left her together with other good reasons & in considerations moving her thereunto which are to be performed unto her by ye sd Clement Coldum according as hereafter expressed in this writing: hath given granted bargained & confirmed & by these presents doth give grant & confirm unto sd Clement Coldum his heires & assignes forever viz: after ye death of ye sd Johannnah all yt other halfe of the whole accomodation consisting of house lands & orchard & meadow ground of all sorts situate & being in the township of Linn aforesaid which her husband Thomas Coldum dyed in ye possession of he alsoe haveing given unto ye sd Clement Coldum he being his natural son one halfe of his whole accomidation of houses lands & meadow ground of all sorts as may appeere more at large as in his last will To have & to hold to him his heires and assignes forever together with all comons libertyes & priviledges whatsoever belonging thereunto viz: after the death of his sd mother in law: alsoe ye sd Johannah Coldrum doth upon consideration heareafter in this writing exprest give unto ye sd Clement her sonn halfe the stock of cattle to be in ptnership betwixt him & her undevided whilst shee lived [s?] viz: 2 oxen 4 cowes 1 two yeare calfs 1 mare 2 young horses & 12 sheep the condition of all the quifts abovesd as houses lands orchard onedo__es [sic; probably meadows of all sorts & cattels as above sd together with cartes plows yoakes chaines & all ye tooles & appurtenances for husbandry that ye sd Clement is to imporve the whole living both upland ground & other meddowes of all sorts well & profitably to theire equall benefitt viz: he is to deliver unto her yearely in her house halfe the produce of all the land in tillage by ye bushell & soe of ye orchard the cider by the barrell & what is not made in cider ye rest of the fruite by measure & he is to find all the seed of ye land at his owne cost & is also at his owne cost to keepe all the housing & fences in good repaire & to pay all rates he is also to provid well & carefully to looke to all ye aforesd stock of cattle of all sorts during her life & shee is to have alfe the benefitt thereof: hee ye sd Clement is to bring her to her house yearly during her life time confenient firewood & if need be to bring it into her house & to see to it carefully that shee want not convenient attendance in time of sicknes but be an assistant to her both in time of sickness & health during her life he is alsoe in two years time after my death to pay a good cow to my daughter Mary Simonds or the value of it & five pounds to Sarah Hart & further if upon experience wee cannot live comfortably together in my dwelling house if I should desire it he is to build another by it for him to live in that soe he may performe all the conditions afore unto all & every ye conditions abovesd upon the consideration aforesd he ye sd Clement Coldum doth ingage heareby to performe unto hsi mother in law Johannah Coldum In witness whereof the parties abovesd have unchaneably put to theire hands & seales all the lands & housing being responsible to the performance hearof.

Signed sealed and delivered in ye presence of us with power [?sic] words interlined this alsoe being to be understood that the said Johanah doth give unto her son Clement her part of the two oxen abovesd in ptnership at her death
