Descendants of Thomas Coldham
If we are descendants of Francis Norwood (1636-1709) of Lynn and Gloucester, Massachusetts, we are equally descendants of his "loving wiffe", Elizabeth Coldam, daughter of Clement Coldam of the same place. Clement was the son of Thomas Coldham of Lynn, and was quite a colorful character, whose antics we can all enjoy through the records of both town and county. You have found mention of him already if you have read Francis Norwood's Will or the essay on Francis Norwood's Quaker connection. To review these files, please return toThe Norwood Family Page
You will find a variety of spellings of this name throughout the records. Although I have used COLDHAM on this page, COLDAM may be the best choice for this family. Please do not let spelling variations disturb you.

As on the Norwood Family Page, here is a spot to include research correspondence that reflects the course of others' work on our common problems and provides a small window on the research process we are all engaged in. Sometimes there are special insights to be shared; sometimes a fresh perspective from which to see a research puzzle. In any case, here we can hear the voices both of our fellow researchers and of our ancestors--family history in the making.
My first offering are the following two letters to James Dempsey from cousin Elizabeth Harriman Rowe Day9,10
(Emma Parsons9, Edwin Parsons8, Martha Witham7, Mark Witham6, Judith Pool5, Stephen Pool4, Elizabeth Norwood3, Joshua2, Francis1)
(Fred Rowe8, Charles7, Thomas Jefferson6, William5, Sarah Harris4, Sarah Norwood3, Joshua2, Francis1)
You will see how fond Mrs. Day is of our ancestor Clement.
Scott Worman forwarded me the following e-mail response from Norman C. Fussell to a query of his about Coldhams. The message provides some details about a line of Coldhams in Winchester, England during the 17th and 18th centuries.
