FIELD HOCKEY EXTRAVAGANZA RULES & REGULATIONS

GENERAL INFORMATION

1. REGISTRATION INFORMATION

a. If the tournament is cancelled or suspended due to inclement weather, poor field conditions,
or any other "Act of Nature," no refunds will be given.

b. Neither Four Seasons Sports Complex nor Sports Dynamics, their officers or staff, will be held
responsible for any costs incurred by a team due to the cancellation of this tournament.

GAME PARTICIPATION RULES

1. ROSTERS


a. Only those players on your roster are eligible to play. Any team which uses a player not
listed on their roster will receive a forfeit for that game. Rosters must be on file prior to your
first game.
 
b. Rosters are unlimited, however only 12 awards will be presented per team.

c. Players can only play for one team.

2. ATTIRE/EQUIPMENT

a. All players including the goalie must use a mouthguard.

b. All players except the goalie must wear shinguards.

c. No jewelry or hats may be worn during the game.

d. All teams must have a goalie. Goalies are required to wear a helmet with facemask and a standard
amount of pads.

e. Each team must wear matching jerseys with numbers. Teams must have a second color jersey in
case of conflict (practice jerseys are acceptable as back-ups).

f. Goalies must wear a completely different color jersey from that of the colors worn by both teams.

g. Outdoor sticks will be permitted.

3. RULES OF PLAY

a. Six (6) players and a goalie will be on the field for each team at any time. Teams may substitute
players at any time. The player being substituted for must be off the field before the replacement
comes on.

b. The minimum amount of players to start a game is Four (4) field players and a goalie.

c. Push passes, slap passes, flicks and hitting of the ball are legal.

d. On all "hits" the stick is restricted to a movement of hip to hip.

e. Lifting of the ball is not allowed except for a shot on goal with no defenders (except for the goalie)
between the shooter and the goal. A ball is considered lifted if it travels higher than the shin or the
referee deems the ball dangerous.

f. The white painted area around each goal shall be considered "the circle;" however, the goalie may
use her feet anywhere inside their own 25 yard line.

g. For any violation by the defending team which occurs outside "the circle," a free hit shall be
awarded. A goal may be scored off of a free hit if the ball is touched by a second player of the
offensive team inside the circle before it crosses the goal line.

h. For any violation that occurs inside "the circle", a "corner" shall be awarded. Corners will consist of
a push or hit from either corner along the end line to the offensive players who must start outside of
the 25-yard line. Four defenders, including the goalie, will start in the goal behind the goal line. The
rest of the defending team must start behind the center line. The corner must come outside the
circle, be completely stopped and then brought back in before a shot can be attempted.

i. A penalty stroke shall be awarded from a distance of 7 yards for any violation by the defending
team which a possible goal was denied as a result of the violation. Any player from the offensive team
may take the stroke.

j. The first team listed on the schedule has the pass back.

4. GAME TIME

a. All games will consist of 24 minutes.

b. The clock will only be stopped for injuries and time outs.

c. Each team only has one (1) thirty-second time out per game. No time out will be allowed in the
last 2 minutes of the game.

d. Time lost to injury will not be added to the game.

5. POINTS

a. Teams will receive 3 Points for a win, 1 Point for a tie, 0 Points for a loss

6. FORFEITS

a. A forfeit will be declared if a teams arrives 5 minutes after the match start time.

b. Does not have the minimum 4 field players and a keeper on the field 5 minutes after the match
start time.

c. Forfeited games will be recorded as a 3-0 win.


7. TIEBREAKERS

For ties at the end of "Pool Play," the following procedure will be used to break the tie:

a. Most Wins b. Head to Head Competition

b. Fewer Goals Allowed

c. Goal Differential (Max. 3 per Game) Goals scored minus goals allowed.

d. Coin Toss

8. OVERTIME

If a game is tied at the end of regulation time in playoff and/or championship games the following
procedure will take place:

a. the two teams will move immediately to the designated stroke area for a three player stroke-off.

b. a coin flip will determine whether the team chooses to stroke or defend first; the team in the dark
uniform will call the toss.

c. if the score is tied after the initial stoke-off, the teams will go to a sudden-victory stroke-off using
three other players from their roster.

d. The team that stroked first in the first round will now defend first.

e. If the score remains tied, the teams will repeat the stroke-off in the sudden-victory format using the
first round and second round of strokers. Coaches may change the order of the strokers at this time
only.
