About Me

For anyone who wants to know, here's a little about me. I have worked for WWSP, Stevens Point, on
the "Club Wisconsin" show. WWSP is the student radio station at University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point.
This show isn't on WWSP anymore, but they have a show where they play music live from local venues.
However while still on-the-air it was a staple on WWSP for many years. Judging from the number of
requests and fans I have met, it had a large following. The format was deceptively simple: three hours of
nothing but music from Wisconsin. As some of you may know, there is a lot of great music new and old from
Wisconsin. Rob Benton, the creator of the show, gets all of the credit for the success of this show. He has
moved away from Steven's Point, hence the cancellation of the show. I had some serious fun playing local
music there.

I also volunteered at WORT, where I reported the local news on the "In Our Back Yard" show (IOBY).
WORT is Madison's listener sponsored community radio station. Besides a few paid staff, most of the
people which make WORT tick are unpaid volunteers.

IOBY is the only completely volunteer run local news program in the nation. IOBY also does not accept any
underwriters. Why the only one in the nation you ask? Because running this show takes dozens of volunteers
and many long hours. IOBY strives to provide an alternative to the corporate news offered by local TV and
other radio stations; yes, large corporations own these. IOBY runs stories about land-use issues, complete
coverage of local politics - including politicians and politics that would otherwise be to "dangerous", poverty,
homelessness, and racial issues; well, you get the idea.

And I also had a show on WSUM the UW-Madison student radio station, and I was the Local Music
Director. I was webcasting from 7-10 pm on Wednesdays the "Cheese Factory" show. Which consisted of
the most local music that I could play in three hours and the occasional indie-rock favorite or maybe a little
Pink Floyd.

I was also volunteering for about two years with a group called Students Helping Others (s.h.o.), which
helps the homeless in Madison. s.h.o. did things like: staffing "soup" kitchens, staffing after school programs
for lower class children and children living in shelters, conduct fund-raisers like benefit concerts, conduct
food drives and clothes drives, and conduct case studies of homeless people including working on a
documentary video of interviews and the like. All of this was done with a handful of unpaid volunteers.

I have since graduated from UW-Madison and moved to Two Rivers, Wisconsin (on Lake Michigan about
40 miles south of Green Bay) where I have a "real job". A short two months after this I moved to Milwaukee
for about 4 months, and now I'm back in the metropolitan area known as Two Rivers. Lately I've been
playing my digital piano quite a bit, so as always I can't say when updates to the webpage will come.

Here's a picture of me, circa 1995.
