Koko Knoll (Hunt-McAllister, 1984)
One of Gene's last selections, which I named for his home in Fallis, Oklahoma.
A fully fertile halfbred, from (Beirut x Imam Ahmid) X ((Jallah Effendi x Obi) x I. auranitica).
It was registered as an OGB+ under the quantum system but functions as
a fully fertile halfbred so it would qualify as an OGB today.
This one shows up in the background of many of my own introductions. It's maternal line traces back to Mariposa Mia, which may explain its unusual
affinity for TBs and success in producing quarterbreds.

84-5A Promise to Elizabeth X Koko Knoll. A reciprocal cross of yellows, testing maternal inheritance of plant type. Produced many striking selections, some of which I now wish I'd introduced. Seedling 84-5A-16 became All That Glitters. |

84-6A Koko Knoll X Promise to Elizabeth. The reciprocal cross of 84-5A, which also produced a lot of good seedlings but I was more interested in information than introductions. Nevertheless, 84-6A-4 became Dot's Nice. |

85-8: Koko Knoll X Asha Michelle. A dual-purpose cross, testing maternal inheritance in quarterbreds and hoping to get some with intricate dotting and veining. Two were worthy of introduction: the
reddish-violet- on-near-white 85-8-5, which became Dream Catcher, and the yellow-and-rust-on-ivory 85-8-7, which became
Fine Feathered Friend. |

86-10: Persian Pansy X Koko Knoll. Another one of my infamous, mix-up-the-genes-to-see-what-happens crosses with Persian Pansy. The expected Persian Pansy
lookalikes, of course, plus one smoky novelty, 86-10-6, that became
Inscrutable. |
