It is said that the sign of Scorpio rules the art of letting go. Because it is such a tenacious entity, one which likes to hold on and control, more than any other part of us Scorpio needs to learn the lesson it alone can teach.
Born with Scorpio ascending and sporting Jupiter and Chiron in Scorpio, as well, I have a tendency to believe every word of it. My whole life has been given over to that purpose.
In the process of this lifetime I have learned to let go of all things. People, places, objects, family ties, spiritual bonds, love. I get better at it the more I do it, too. I am so good at it now, in fact, that others sometimes accuse me of being heartless, cold, unfeeling. I assure you this is not the case. The realization that an ending is inevitable means great agony for me. But at last I have the courage to let that ending take place the way it should.
How do you reach this level of enlightenment? Well, you hang on. You hang on in spite of all indications to the contrary. Regardless of what the other person says or does, you refuse to accept the truth. Keep beating your head against that brick wall. Trust me, there will come a time when you've had enough. With your face battered beyond recognition, the life blood pouring from your wounds, you will let go. You will be damn glad to let go.
Hopefully, you will only have to get battered and bloody once or twice. Some of us take longer, so don't despair if you beat yourself up more than a couple of times. We all have a limit. You will reach yours when you get there and not one moment sooner. The nice part about it is that we do eventually get smarter. Every time we go through it we gain a little speed. And finally one day we break out on the other side and find ourselves able to let go before the battering begins. We can see the brick wall coming. We've got it in our sights.
Then again, we can always make the other choice available to us. We can choose not to learn. We can refuse to let go at all costs. We can get stuck in our imagined needs; we can go to our graves bitter and angry. And chances are we can come back another time to face this lesson all over again.
Not me. I'm a quick study.
