a. After you have downloaded your animated cursors, place them in the WINDOWS\CURSORS directory.
b. Next, open up the CONTROL PANEL and double click on the mouse icon: Click here for illustration.
c. Next, Click on the POINTERS tab: Click here for illustration.
d. Next,
1. Select ANIMATED HOURGLASS from the pull down menu
2. Select SAVE-AS
3. Then type in the name of the cursor scheme you want to create

e. There are several Windows tasks that can be assigned a cursor. Select which task you want to assign your animated cursor to. A couple of good choices are Working in Background and Busy.. Highlight the cursor you want to replace, then click the browse button: Click here for illustration.
f. Highlight the animated cursor you want to use (animated cursors have the extention *.ani), then click the open button: Click here for illustration.
g. Repeat step f for each cursor you want to use, then click the apply button: Click here for illustration.
