pitch
(through the low point, to the right of the exposed rock).
Brick Robbins takes a break before starting to the climb the second
pitch. The notch can be seen in the background.
Here, we trudge through the snow to to the top of the pass.

From Virginius, we look through Marshall Basin to
Bridal Veil Basin (where we will be 6 hours later).
