Sabas Nieves - Introduction

Level: C

Where is it: Sabas Nieves is located in Loma Serrano (Serrano Hill) of El Avila National Park, in front of Urbanización Altamira (Caracas city). You will find track start at 10th Transversal de Altamira, between 2nd and 3rd avenues.

Description: This is, for sure, the most used track in El Avila National Park, because of easy access, safety and demanding level. It also helps that apparently this is the gathering place of the most gorgeous women and handsome men in Caracas.

It is a good place to exercise, but if you are not very fitted, don't expect to get to Sabas Nieves the first time you try. The path is very demanding. Take it easy.

Track is a perpetual slope and you'll find a long, long, long stairway (72 steps) in the middle. At first the road is shadowy and cool, but then it is very sunny. Take a cap or hat with you.

How to get there: It is easy. You have several choices:

Anyway, the key is to get to Plaza Altamira (really, Plaza Francia) and start from there.

Time: From the beginning of track (10th Transversal) to ranger's house you'll spend about 35 minutes. If you come walking from Plaza Altamira, add another 25 minutes.
