Germany/Bulgaria Trip Diary
"Singing in the Rain..."
Day 3
The phone rang
at 05:30. It was a completely unnecessary text message that only managed
to wake me up 3 hours earlier than planned! But at home I do get up around
06:00 every day so my body and brain just thought that it was time to feed the
animals…. No more sleep for me today! But I had plenty of work to do
so I just did it all at a comfortable pace, made some tea etc. etc.
I had a
breakfast meeting planned at 09:30 and I was a bit early but it all went well
and we were soon on our way to Schorndorf for the "Talent at the Microphone"
contest. I had been roped into this as a member of the jury and I didn´t
see it as a stressful thing at all until I found out that we had to judge 18
singers, most of whom were murdering some great songs. There was some
talent there though and I gave number 13 the highest marks. When we added
up the scores in a frenzied attempt to find a winner, number 13 was nowhere to
be found! I was in a familiar place… a minority of one! The awards
were presented, the excitement came and went and of course I had to sing Lady In
Black. It all ended well, I signed a million things and we eventually
found the elephant.
The Elephant
is a restaurant that we went to for after show dinner and it was quite good
actually. The whole town is basically shut down for these two day
festivities and the atmosphere was very festive indeed. I made a couple of
new Christian friends during dinner and I suspect this will be more news in
coming diaries. I also met a gentleman named Mike Thulke and I think you
should remember this name!
A few more
drinks at a quieter location and it was time for bed. Maybe tonight I
would catch up on my sleep!!??
