Day 3 - December 5th 2007

I woke up about 30 minutes out of Vienna, made some tea and tried hard to figure out where I was and why!  My brain doesn’t function too well without tea (some would say it just doesn’t function!) and it usually takes two or three cups to get my pulse up to normal.

We arrived at the hotel at about 8:30 and not all of the rooms were ready so we went to breakfast and planned our day.  Helge wasn’t feeling too good so he went straight to bed.  So we found our rooms and went to do whatever we needed to do before leaving for sound check at 3:30pm.

As I said, Planet Music is a really “pro” venue so things went a little more smoothly today.  After sound check we had some strange items for dinner (they could definitely improve the catering), a quick meeting and then back to the hotel to shower and get ready.  I think all we need is an audience!!  So what’s new?

I changed the set a bit for tonight’s show and, to be honest, it really didn’t work.  Plus, for whatever reason, I felt a bit “disconnected” tonight so, for me at least, it was a bit disappointing.  The audience was enthusiatic (in the usual reserved Austrian way) and we made it to the end but I just didn’t have that sense of satisfaction that I enjoy so much.  It could be down to a lot of things (and fatigue was probably one) but it was disappointing.  But everyone else felt good and that was the main thing.

I just needed to get some sleep and prepare for tomorrow… there’s always another day.

I do want to thank everyone at the venue for getting basics right and for creating the opportunity to play here… I’ll be happy to come back and do it right next time!!

Next day...
