Finland, Russia, Russia and Switzerland… "96
tea bags and 2 pedal bins"!
Day 9
The road was
dreadful and the bus was apparently built before they invented suspension so
this was a rough ride but 13 hours later we were crusing into town, dying to get
off the big red bus and grab a few hours sleep before sound check.
There were a
lot of people at the hotel to welcome us and the local promoter and is guys did
their best to communicate. Good thing we had Alex and then along came Elena
(Helen to us) who teaches English at the local university and was our designated
translator. To be honest, there were just too many people around. None of
them really knew who was doing what or who was making decisions and this made
all of our lives more difficult. And the scrambled eggs here were fried
too. And that´s with TWO bi-lingual people in the room!!!
I did manage
to get quite a lot of catching up done in the afternoon but I wouldn´t finish
until long into tomorrow morning… We probably had the best sound here
although the newly-installed sound system was inexplicable "governed". I
had had enough of the fake B3 so my personal enjoyment of all of these shows was
limited at best but the band rocked and the audience rolled and there were
really powerful and positive vibes all around.
Being so close
to China I was imagining that the Chinese Restaurant we were going to for dinner
would be really special but it wasn´t. It was just another Chinese restaurant as
far as I could tell and I actually tasted better chinese food in Spain.
I had to wait
until 01:45 to get the plane tickets for tomorrow but I was determined to get
them before I went to bed. Then I remembered that we would be leaving at 06:30
so it was doubtful I would actually even go to bed. All being well, Moscow
should provide a chance to recover a bit.
Barcelona
too.
