Finland, Russia, Russia and Switzerland… "96
tea bags and 2 pedal bins"!
Day 21
I slept a
little longer but still not very deeply… definitely the result of the many
changes of time zones. By the time I get home I will have travelled
approximately 30,000 kilometres (around 18,000 miles)!! My body clock is
taking time to re-adjust and I just have to allow it that time and not do
anything to make it harder to recover.
So today we
transferred to Bern and into the last hotel of this long journey. It
almost wasn't the last hotel because the first room they gave me was impossibly
small and they had a problem changing it. But we got it done and I moved
myself, my luggage, my guitars and the rented piano into the room. Had a
mediocre Spaghetti Bolognese and then took a 2-hour siesta.
In the evening
I had dinner with Jürg Luthi from the agency/promotion company "Only Rock &
Roll", his girlfriend Nieves who is from Asturias in Spain and a whole bunch of
other people, about 12 in all. It was a fun group and I felt very much at
home with such down-to-earth people.
Stefan was
there with a collection of old Heep pictures and it was generally a fun time and
a great change from the stresses of the Russian tour.
After a couple of glasses of red wine, it was easy to fall asleep and I said my
evening prayers. That's the last thing I remember.
