Back To Winter….

Day 7:

Early this morning I had to go to Ludwigshafen for a radio interview at RPR1. Normally this would be a 45-minute drive but when people insist on using GPS instead of normal road signs things sometimes go wrong!!

Anway, the interview went well and we made it safely back to Mainz in time for my interview with the program ¨Leute¨.  This was a very special interview, one that I really enjoyed for a variety of reasons.

Even though we usuallly cover similar topics, it seems that the book and the whole story of Blood On The Highway has inspired people to research more thoroughlly and so we go into areas that are a bit unusual and because there is no time limit (as there often is at private rock stations for example) we go deeper into a lot of subjects.  For the interviewee (in this case, me) this makes it a lot more interesting and enjoyable.

But the main focus of this day was the mini-concert at SWR1 and we had a little time for a technical rehearsal.

This went well and, shortly after we finished, the small audience arrived in the studio and we had a really good time together over the course of 6 songs. As with all of my solo performances, the theme was ¨Past, Present & Future¨ so we played ¨The Wizard¨, ¨Free Me¨, ¨I Did It All, ¨We´re On Our Way¨, ¨Tell Me When¨ (a brand new song) and finished, of course, with ¨Lady in Black¨.

Of course they all sounded very different because we were in a small venue and the musicians brought their own individual interpretations of each song.

But everyone seemed to really enjoy it and we mingled together for a while afterwards, signing things and posing for pictures.

It was very cool and I had fun.

My flight to Oslo had been moved to tomorrow so I just had some dinner, watched a little TV and enjoyed an early night.

Now it´s off to Oslo to prepare for the Lillehammer festival.
