Day 2 - June 14th 2007

Thursday

Today came a bit too early!  I don’t know if you know this but, at this time of year, it doesn’t really get dark up here so if the hotel doesn’t have good curtains the light starts pouring in at 2am.

The other things is that, since leaving America six years ago I have become almost allergic to air-conditioning!!  Let me see…. what else can I complain about??

Anyway I was awake so I made some tea, did my Bible study, did some work and went downstairs for breakfast.  Today started with a lot of interviews for B.O.T.H at Universal’s office and that went well.  I have known these guys for some time now and it’s always a pleasure to work with them.  The reaction to the new CD continues to be awesome and our plan for promotion looks really good too so we shall see….

After lunch I headed to the venue called Smuget.  I’ve never played this club before but I have heard a lot of good things about it so I was looking forward to it.

The guys arrived shortly after me and we spent some time catching up on important stuff like hair-colouring and wrinkle-removal….. you know the kind of thing that us guys (or some of us anyway) like to chat about…..

Today was also the start of the “Norwegian Wood” festival so all the hotels in Oslo were booked and we would be driving after the show to the next town, Holmestrand, which is only an hour away.

I felt a bit “homeless” as I dragged my bags into the venue but we had a lot of work to do so being early was cool.  Morten, the manager of the venue made us really welcome and I felt comfortable right away.  Smuget is about 4 or 5 venues in one.  A big room, a smaller one, a dinner theater, a restaurant and a bar…. a lot of work but well put together.

The show went really well.  Small clubs can have a great live vibe and this one did although the crowd was totally into it and rocked along with us right through the encores.

We had a small celebration in the dressing rooms afterwards because dear old Willy just turned 50 and then it was time to pile into the cars and head for Holmestrand.  I had eaten a big greasy burger before the show (breaking my own rule!!) and I wasn’t feeling so great so I was happy to get to the hotel and to bed!!

When I say THE hotel, I mean that it was actually the only hotel in this little fishing village….. this sleepy little fishing village.  Wow…. it’s ten minutes to four in the morning!!  I have time for at least 6 or 7 hours sleep…… great!!

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!

Next day...
