September 24th 2003

After another great in-store autograph session we headed to lunch and then the train station. I was actually looking forward to this journey as the train offers a chance to really relax and catch up with things.

The trains in this part of the world are extremely old and travelling in first-class is the only acceptable way to go! We did do the coach thing once and that’s how we learned! The compartments are okay and the small beds are quite comfortable and I am writing this from mine at the moment. The toilets are locked at stations and the restaurant car opens and closes randomly. When it’s open the food is okay and it’s an easy place to pass some time and solve the probems of the world.

I won’t say that I am sorry to leave Ukraine but, overall, it was an enjoyable experience and I shall look forward to coming back.

For now though I am going to take a nap. Dinner is at 7pm and then sleep…… the border crossing is at 5am and I doubt that I will go back to sleep after that because we arrive in Bryansk at 7:30.

Later…

Next day...
