Today was one of those difficult days that sometime
happen in the studio. As usual, it can't be pin-pointed to any one
particular thing… it's just hard to get any momentum and when
that happens it's best not to try too hard!
We did manage to get some basic work done like cleaning up the vocal
tracks to get rid of my mumbling and general silliness and it was
also an opportunity to prepare the tracks for tomorrow when we will
re-cut two bass tracks and add some harmonies and backing vocals.
This week will see us adding a lot of the best singers and players
that Russia has and I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised…
as I was when we first explored this concept. Although you will
be familiar with a lot of the songs, I am hopeful that you will
enjoy the refreshing new life that is being added by these musicians,
most of whom have known the songs for a long time. It is really
enjoyable for me to be working with them and though the language
thing is a problem at times (and it must be wearing poor Egor out!)
we have, by now, developed a good working system that means, on
most days, we can achieve most of our daily goals. Today though,
we will have to quit while we are ahead and look forward to tomorrow.
