I am tired today. The curtains in my bedroom are practically non-existent and it gets light here at around 4:30am so it can be hard to stay asleep or go back to sleep if I do wake up. But I am only tired and I have been here before!! Just have to be selective about what I do and not make too many important decisions!

My early morning schedule is the same as at home really. Get up, wash my face, make tea and settle down to pray and read my devotions and Bible. As a Christian, this time is very important to me as it prepares me properly for the day and I hate those rare occasions when I miss it.

Before we recorded Lady In Black we needed to re-record the bass on Stealin' and I had Alexei use his fingers instead of a pick. The sound was better for this track and so was the energy.

Lady In Black is as close as I can get to the new live version in the studio but the basic track is great and I'll start the overdubs tomorrow. So now I have three new tracks to work on… it's going to be a busy weekend!

The last thing we did today was work with Vadim who is an incredible piano player, playing in every style imagineable. Some really great electric piano on Weep in Silence and live acoustic piano on the end of Circle of Hands completed this day in a fantastic way. I have to say that these musicians are really special and by encouraging them to add their own character and not follow the original, we are adding some very special colour to this CD. As we go through each stage of development I find myself becoming more and more excited about this project. It's going to be something very special indeed.

Oh dear… now I have to go and watch England play Portugal… why don't I feel very confident? Vivid memories of the game against France probably! Maybe they'll surprise me… I hate the taste of humble pie!!

Next day...
