July 25th 2004

Today was one of those great days in the studio when you just get a lot done! I had scheduled some very specific tasks and somehow we just tore through them. I wanted to focus the first day or so on the parts I had to do and the parts I had spent a lot of time practising and that involved mainly electric guitar parts and some Hammond stuff. These elementary building blocks provide the foundation for the experimentation that is to come so they are very important. Without them the picture we are trying to paint would be hard, if not impossible to create.

Of course I had to take time out to watch the German Grand Prix although the outcome was predictable as usual. But I needed something to do while I ate lunch!!

About 7:30 I "hit the wall". I lost my concentration and that's a sure sign of fatigue/burn out so I decided to pack it in… I know from a lot of experience that it's a waste of time to keep going at this point. But we had accomplished a lot today and I am grateful for that. Having lost a couple of days due to the visa problem I am hoping and praying for a couple more days like this so we can catch up.

We are at the stage now where it's time to start work on the cover and the booklet so I am looking at the running order for the first CD and wondering how you would like to hear it. I can only guess of course but that's all we have ever been able to do so hopefully we'll get it right. More tomorrow then…

Next day...
