Today is mostly a "vocal"
day. We'll attack my remaining harmony parts and some of the lead
vocals, taking care not to burn my voice out as there are still some
lead parts to be done. I have the day off to rest tomorrow and the
plan is to finish all the recording by August 5th when I
must return to Spain. We'll also "clean up" all the tracks (get rid
of unwanted sounds & noises on all the tracks) and do some
pre-mixing before Sasha starts setting up the final mixes. So we
have a lot of work left to do.
We started early today,
around 10:00, and by about 5:30 we had finished 5 vocals and some
harmonies so that we now have four songs ready to mix and the others
are very close so we are on schedule as of right now. I say that
because you never know!!
Once we finished with the
vocals we took a look at some guitar and organ parts but nothing was
really "working" which I saw as a sign that perhaps it was time to
take a break. Studio fatigue (and particuarly ear fatigue) kind of
creeps up on you so this is a good time to leave it alone for a
while and come back fresh on Monday morning. Plus it gives me more
time to bring the diary up-to-date!! Unless anything special happens
tomorrow, I’ll be back on Monday and I hope you are having a great
weekend!
