E-Heep

August 4th 2004

I had to start early today because there is so much to do but that's okay because I've been getting up early every day anyway. Did I mention the problems at the hotel?

We started by finishing (does that sound strange?) the lead vocals on "Feelings" and "Easy Living" and then did some work on my "surprise" idea for "Rain". I am not sure how I feel about it at this point, I'll need to do some more work on it and see…which, if I know myself at all, means it probably won't work!! But we are chugging along and I got some Hammond things done before lunch which means we are on schedule for the day.

By the way, in case you're interested, the big discussion last night did nothing more than remind me of the importance of experience and teamwork. Everyone involved in this project has experience in their own field but where they fail is in a willingness to pool these resources into one effective management team. Fortunately none of this affects what Sasha and I are doing but I can't help thinking of the opportunities they are missing by being so stubborn with everyone wanting the credit for everything! I remember a long time ago when I was in an office at Big State Distribution in Texas (near Dallas actually) seeing a framed quotation on the wall that said… "There is no limit to what can be achieved as long as it doesn't matter who gets the credit". It is absolutely true and it really stuck with me. As I look back, I can see how it applies to so many situations, how it would definitely apply here and I also wonder what would have become of Uriah Heep had we all adopted this principle?? Food for thought I guess…

Anyway it's time to start going through each song and get rid of "reference" parts and miscellaneous noises, throat-clearing etc… kind of a boring process but necessary, although I won't bore you with all the details!!

Next day...
