"My Trip to
Germany and Finland... August 2009"
Day 1
Alicante
airport was even worse than usual today, but that´s only to be expected in the
middle of August, the height of the tourist season. The flying buses are busier
than ever and the people who fly once a year are up to their usual tricks,
meandering through airports completely unaware of the existence of other people
etc.
I think the
thing that mystifies me the most (well, one of them anyway) is the amount of
time they spend staring at the electronic information boards…. But that´s enough
of that I think.
I really like
Air Berlin. They are consistently good and I had used their friendly on-line
check-in which made things even quicker and easier.
There are no
short cuts to clearing security though and this took quite a bit longer than
usual this morning.
The flight to
Palma, Mallorca was quick and I had enough time there to enjoy a bratwurst (not
quite the real thing) and to smoke a couple of cigarettes in the smoke-filled
area set aside for those of us who remain "afflicted".
Air Berlin
uses this airport as a connecting point for a lot of its European flights and,
as the airline grows, so does the airport.
Then is was
off to Stuttgart where I have some stuff to do before Saturday´s show in
Rechbergshausen.
My dear friend
Bernie met me as planned and, because he lives close to here, he knew some short
cuts into town which helped to avoid the rush-hour traffic.
Checked in to
the Le Meridien hotel, my room is beautiful, had a quick bite and a lot of
conversation in the bar.
This trip
is off to a good start and bed will feel good!
