Sorry to have been away for a while but things are getting really crazy as we approach the end of the overdubs and the beginning of mixing!! At the moment I am in the middle of doing the lead vocals so it's harder to find time to relax and write but I can tell you that the record is sounding better and better everyday!!

And I suppose it had to happen... after weeks of making "Olympic" progress we have been hit by a bug!! Nothing serious but enough to slow us down so we are taking a few days off to shake it off. Sure we could all keep going but that would mean we'd have to compromise something and we're not willing to do that. I hate missing deadlines but I hate compromise more!! This is no ordinary record now and it's not going to become one!!

This is the first time I have ever done a recording entirely in Pro-Tools and it's the first time I have done a lot of things differently and I am glad that Danny and Monica talked me into it!! Actually it was Monica that found Danny or I wouldn't be doing this record at all to be honest. When the studio equipment arrived from America so much of it was missing and so much of the rest of it had been deliberately sabotaged (coca-cola in the effects racks, pro tools files missing or corrupted etc... there are some strange people in this world!) that it was unuseable and I was not sure what I was going to do. I kept myself busy working on the new songs but I have to admit it was a concern for a while. But, once again, things have worked out for the best and now I find myself in the most productive and inspirational environment I have been in for a very long time!! Danny has been a great "ally" in this project and, even though we are approaching a lot of things in a way that is different from what I am used to, it's really paying off!

A lot more attention is being paid to "details" and the way we recorded the Dobro is one example. Whereas I have most often used the pick up in a direct line we spent a lot of time trying different mics in different positions until we arrived at a very sweet and natural sound. I think you can see that in the picture and, as I said... this is no ordinary record..... not by any means!

There are so many people that I can't thank enough for their support, involvement and encouragement in this project but, as always, it is you I think of most when I am working on this CD. I think you will really like it.... at least I certainly hope you do!! Talk to you again early next week and let's all keep the Iraq situation in our prayers!

God bless,
Ken
