November 24th 2005

Six hours of solid sleep, a good breakfast and a little computer work and I was ready for the drive to Sweden for the first of our shows there.  It’s about a 5-hour drive but in the rain it was likely to take a little longer and the roads are not great either!

It felt good to be back with the guys again and because Saturday’s gig is on a cruise boat it’s going to be an interesting adventure.

We arrived in Vasteras a little behind schedule and things became a little difficult from there because Ole got lost on the way to the venue and left us with about 20 minutes for sound check!! But the band and crew are pros and we dealt it as best we could. Actually Magne and Petter did a sort of mini-sound check for us!!

This was a really good gig. Not the best we’ve played but a really good gig from a lot of different points of view. First, we were a bit up against it because of being late which meant we were not 100% prepared, the crowd was smallish (not bad for a Thursday though) and the stage wasn’t exactly as we would have liked but, as I said, these guys are pros and we got the job done!! The crowd loved it and I want to thank Tapio and Pekka for coming all the way from Helsinki, Goran and his fiancee (she never did give me her name) who came from Belgium and others who came from as far afield as Iceland!! Absolutely amazing…

A bit of a chaotic day really but rewarding nonetheless… tomorrow’s a travel day and we only have a short journey to Stockholm from here and then… The boat!!

Next day...
