Not much to do today so I took my time getting ready, re-packing and preparing to leave for Skien this afternoon.

Morten picked me up at around 3pm and we set off for Skien (his home town) in no particular hurry.

Travelling around Norway frequently involves using ferry boats and this is second nature to Norwegian people who board them on bicycles, trucks and just about every other form of transport on their way to work or whatever.

For us a 30-minute ferry ride saved more than an hour over the alternative route of driving around the mountain and it provides a natural coffee break in the middle of the journey too.

Checking into the now familiar Comfort Hotel was easy and a little later we got together for a relaxed dinner. It’s really cold here now although there’s still not as much snow as usual. As is normal now this is conveniently blamed on global warming which, like carbon-dating, is a theory I have little time for.

Whatever the reason I was warm enough in my hat and gloves but I was more interested in climbing into my bed than controversial discussion and we called it a day in time for me to catch most of the Barcelona vs The Peace Team football match which was a grand political and charitable occasion but a lame game!

I still sense that a cold is doing its best to get me so it’s out with the “Airborne” so I don’t have to fight it single-handedly!! Good night.

Next day...
