DAY 1

Friday the 22nd seemed to roll into Saturday the 23rd and, before I had anywhere near enough sleep, Trevor arrived to drive me to Heathrow. I had never been to Russia before so I wasn't exactly sure how to prepare but I knew it would be cold so I took lots of warm stuff!

Flight 872 was delayed twice but we eventually got going and it was a typical British Airways flight… no problems, nearly decent food and we arrived about 30 minutes late.

Passport control was interesting… there were no organised lines, just a mass of humanity jostling for position but I eventually got through and there were my bags and my guitar… all in one piece! Liza and Eugene from Sony Music Russia were there to meet me and we took the 45-minute drive into central Moscow in Eugene's little car!

It was getting dark so I couldn't see much but Moscow seemed pretty much like most European capitals… except a lot bigger! Our dinner meeting was enjoyable but I was soon ready to sleep so they took me back to The Marriott Grand hotel which was very nice… the lobby could have been anywhere in the world really! After moving in and making a few calls I was happy to go to bed!

Next day...
