DAY 14

Man… has it really been that long??

Thankfully a short drive… only 3 hours today! There was lots and lots of snow around today but we pulled into Vaasa on time and went straight to sound check.
Production, set-up etc… is running more smoothly now although the crew always has to adjust to little differences in the size and location of the stages.

This is also the fourth show in a run of five straight so we will see how our energy (and my voice) are holding up. Sound check was fine and after a nice dinner we went to the hotel for a nap and shower!! Getting e-mail in the Finnish countryside has been almost totally impossible but I am hoping to catch up while we are here.

When we got back to the club it was already packed and rocking! We sneaked into the dressing room which was actually a sauna!! (honest!) and unfortunately was next to another room of the club which was blasting more disco music!!! Why doesn't that garbage go away???

Anyway, after a radio interview and two journalists I got ready and we fought our way to the stage!! The only difficulty here was that the stage was so low and the B3 so close to the front that I had three guys leaning on it and stealing my water bottle!! I bet they got some good close up pictures! We have placed no restrictions on people taking pictures and video… they paid their money and they deserve a souvenir! We do of course try to eliminate audio recording. I think there's enough Heep and Heep-related bootlegs out there already!! On that subject though we are going to record the new version of Lady in Black live during the UK tour… probably at Milton Keynes.

And we have decided to release a single from the album with "I Don't Wanna Wait" and "Free Spirit" on it as well as some quicktime video!!! I'll give you more information on this as we finalise the details.

Another great gig and I think this was our best one so far from a playing point of view. I know I keep saying that but you have to remember that this IS a new band and the growth is very exciting.

On a personal note… I am very sorry that I am not always able to have "one-on-one" conversations with everyone and sometimes I can't accomodate last-minute interviews at 4am but I hope people understand. Sometimes you feel that you can't win but I do my best!!

Next day...
