DAY 5

So much for days off!! I spent most of it sorting out the Russian dates which had to be re-scheduled due to "technical" difficulties!! And now Europe is really coming together so it's non-stop really! Do any of you have the same trouble typing that I have?? One of these days I am going to send an e-mail without correcting it and see if anyone can understand the gibberish that my fingers create!! I have to face the fact that the only thing I can work properly is a B3 I guess!! HA!

Tonight is Southampton and it will be Gipsy's first concert (he is five months old now so he qualifies!!). But first I have to pick up Andy. Dave and Pete will meet us there as they live kind of on the way!! For those of you who don't live in the UK, we had to go on the M25 motorway and, as usual it was a 100-mile car park!! Why can't the English build roads properly?…why can't ANYONE build roads properly? Of the things I hate the most, one is getting lost and the other is being late (I don't care too much for metal coat hangers either but that's another story!!) and we were a little bit late getting there but all was well and sound check went very well!

The Brook has a very small (and quite high) stage but the brick and wood keep the sound tight and we were pleased with the way it sounded. The other thing is that the people at The Brook are wonderful so to Bryn and his staff we say a big thank you!

After dinner (Bryn brought Indian food in) we relaxed for a bit and at 9:20 we went on stage. Again… not a huge crowd but they made a big noise and we enjoyed the gig a lot. It still amazes me how the band improves little by little every night and I am enjoying learning how to sing and how to train my voice which I suppose I should have done a long time ago!! But I am getting more confident and even trying to do things that my singing heros do. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, and maybe that's the way it is for all singers… I don't know! We just want to do the best we can so everyone leaves with something they didn't have when they came in (No Rod… not a headache!)

I suppose I should mention the highlight of the show which was when Gipsy made a surprise appearance on the balcony (I thought he was locked in the dressing room!) and sang/barked along with Dave's guitar licks (hmmm?… doggy term there!) during the intro to "Stealin'"!! It was a light and funny moment which everyone seemed to enjoy a lot!! I was a proud father too!

And so we met a lot of good people after the show including the Taylors who made their way over from the Isle of Wight and missed their last ferry! This is fun… now if I could just figure out how to make money doing it!!

Back to base, arrived at 4:30am with just enough time to write this… see you again after the weekend's shows!!

Next day...
