DAY FOURTEEN
Always so much to be done!! Today I
have to get it all done before the game starts!! But the bummer
was that the game was on pay-per-view here in Germany so we couldn't
find it until Bob (our bus driver) drove half way around Hannover
and eventually found a little karaoke bar in a small village where
we could watch
and we won!! Great way to start the day and
then we went to The Blues Garage in Hannover where tonight's show
is. I have played here before with John Lawton and it was good to
see Henry and Ramona again. The venue is small with a tiny stage
(so no opening act of course) but it has a great "feel"
to it and we were all looking forward to playing. Of course we were
hoping for a good crowd. Germany's football game was this morning
and they won, so the world cup is not a problem but business in
general is down in Germany because of the economy and things like
high unemployment. Of course it doesn't help that in many cases
the posters arrived so late
so it's fingers crossed
We love a full house!! More than anything though, we are investing
in the future of Free Spirit
which looks very good indeed.
In the afternoon I was able to finish the video introduction for
the "Making of Running Blind" DVD. Now I'll send it out
so Dave can edit it, and we'll get it on the site as soon as it's
done.
Another fantastic gig and a lot of happy people too!! Oliver and
Markus made the journey from Hamburg which was very special. Ade
did manage to blow up part of Henry's brand new PA system towards
the end of "Easy Living" but it just became part of the
show!! I am very encouraged by the way people react to the new band
and to the new arrangements of some of the old songs and with only
two shows to go I am already looking forward to the next leg of
Europe in September/October.
After the usual after-show celebrations it was 2am and time to get
on the bus for the ride to Augsburg. This will take about 9 hours
so we'll spend most of it sleeping!!
Next day...
