DAY EIGHTEEN

Left Augsburg at 8:15 this morning for the (relatively) short drive to Gerolzhofen which is near Wurzburg. After a quick nap to catch up on lost sleep, we were at the venue and ready to move in. Once again the promotion was lousy and we are expecting a small crowd but we have made some changes for the next tour so we won't have this problem again. Just about everything about this tour has been excellent, the band, the bus, the crew, the performances, the local promoters, the venues, the audiences have all been fantastic but, as Martin says, "you are only as strong as your weakest link" and unfortunately the weak link has let us down rather badly. Still, it's a "bump in the road" and Monster Productions is already working hard on the next tour!

As it happens the show was really good and the people loved it. It has been a wonderful thing to receive so many compliments from so many fans and friends and to meet so many new ones too. And I am really happy that we are seeing so many younger fans who seem to have a deep appreciation of music that was originally created before they were born!!

And now it's time to head "home". The journey from here to the ferry at Calais will take around 10 hours so there's time to sleep and write to you all and catch up with e-mail etc… along the way we will drop Ade and Dave off at Frankfurt airport as Ade has a gig in Dublin and Dave is love-sick!!

The ferry ride is only 1 hour and 30 minutes and then we will overnight in Dover as Bob will have reached the end of his legal driving hours. Early Friday morning we can watch England beat Brazil (sorry Rod!) and then take the 13 km drive down to Deal to prepare for the show on Friday (I'm losing track of the days again!) After a fairly long trip around Europe, it will be good to be in England and interesting to experience the difference in the audiences, etc.

…and tomorrow I am going to have the guys each write a paragraph to you which they failed to do last time!! Bye for now…

Next day...
