MONDAY 16TH - TUESDAY 17th

Today I had to be separated from the band to go to Moscow for meetings with Sony and others… mainly to dicuss the plans for the next CD and the film that was shot of the last "mini-tour" in May. So after lunch everyone went sight-seeing and I packed and worked before I had to leave to get my train. St. Petersburg is a beautiful city (in a completely different way from Moscow) and I will look forward to seeing it more closely when we come back next April.

During dinner Yatta, Paul and Aron walked in wearing typical Russian fur hats and looking like genuine tourists so the mood was good… which sometimes means that trouble is lurking somewhere!

So off I went to the train station with Vitaly and our eternal friend Alexander Kolesnikov came along to make sure I found the right cabin etc…

This was a fast train (about 7½ hours) though not the fastest and it left on time at 10:25 pm. It was fairly comfortable and I slept for about 4 hours before we arrived at 6:09 am… on the 17th of course!! Eugene Koltunov from Sony was there (actually on the train!) to meet me and we went to the Hotel Russia which would be my "home" now for two days.

After trying to sleep for a while I gave up (the phone wouldn't stop ringing…) and got ready for the long day ahead.

The main item was to discuss the new recording plans and a strategy that would be specifically for the Russian releases and even though this was a long meeting it went well and I think we have a good plan. We also spent some time looking at film from the last shows here with the idea of editing it for a future DVD release… I'll have more news on this at a later date.

The footage is actually very interesting with some nice stuff from sound checks and backstage, the only problem is the sound quality on the show footage but we may be able to clean that up a bit and make it very special!!

Next day...
