Lews Therin Telamon Lews Therin Telamon was undoubtedly one of the most talented and gifted men of any Age. He was a tall man, handsome
with dark eyes. Towards the end of the War of Power, he appeared to be a man just into his
middle years. But his face was lined from years of worry, and his hair was more white than brown. Lews Therin was a famous man, known by many names. Among them were Dragon, and the
Lord of the Morning. It was Lews Therin who was given command of the forces of the Light that fought against the Shadow in the War of Power. And in the end, it
was the Dragon who led the Hundred Companions to Shayol Ghul to seal the Bore. Like the rest of the Hundred Companions, though, he went insane the moment the Bore was
sealed and the backblast tainted saidin. In his madness, Lews Therin killed every living person who carried a drop of his blood. It was this deed which earned him the name Kinslayer.
Elan Morin Tedronai, the most powerful of the Forsaken
, temporarily cured Lews Therin of his insanity. The man known as Ishamael did this so that his foe the Dragon would realize he had been defeated.
It was during this period of lucidity that Lews Therin realized what he had done. Consumed by pain and guilt, Lews Therin proceeded to draw more of the True Source than he could possibly hope to channel. A blinding bar of light shot from the sky,
vaporizing the Dragon and the ground he stood on. The upheaval caused by this immense power was enough to raise a towering mountain in the midst of this flat plain of land. This
mountain, known as Dragonmount, rises miles into the sky and dominates the surrounding region. The nearby river was shifted in its course, creating an island in its midst that would eventually be
the isle of Tar Valon. Most people of the current Age consider Lews Therin just a small step below the Dark One.
A great time has passed since Lews Therin went mad and killed his family. Most in the current Age call him Kinslayer and think him responsible for the Breaking of the World. It is this
ignorance which causes one of the greatest men in history being condemned as evil. |
