'Black Sun'
Back in the dream times
when I circled your warm
sun held in orbit by the pull
of my love for you
my dark side hidden and cold
it seemed a good life.
I didn't feel the need to examine
the rotation of my days
alignment of my moods
I just basked and circled
blindly sure I had found
the constancy of a fixed star.
Until the gassy nova spun
me through a black hole
which by the way, is only a one
way trip and you are never the same,
changed in ways that make astronomers
reach for their telescopes
mutter and stare in disbelief at
the birth of a new star.
Dark star with a hidden heart
forever rethinking the one glitch
a hiccup in time that shifted
my universe by exposing the
simple fact you didn't love me
