WENDY HAMMOND
'Day'

I haven't known day
To face east exclusively
Or turn around when you call its name
Like day is dawn, or john
It just keeps walking
As if it has a destination
Almost circular
In its form

A similarity of same
Variations of wind
And rain

The width of a dream
Stretched wide as sky

Constant change
Sure as
Ocean tide

And if i could fly
I'd be miles high by now
A kite string
A cloud

Where the loud resistance
Earthly bound
Can't drag me down

Where guardian angels
Hang out
Like best friends

And in a quiet hour
day and i
Become like sun
-Warming
