PEGGY MEEKS-KING
'Play Some Bob Marley Music For Me Please'
Morning time at the Coffee Grounds Cafe
on Wabash Avenue and without warning
I hear myself ask April, over the sounds of the coffee
shop
"Play some Bob Marley music for me please"?
As I drink from my bitter Iced Cappuccino,
both lips covered with sweet whipped cream.
I wait for the music to start,
I then order a piece of stawberry-rhubarb pie
on a rainbow plate - how swank I think - the pie
is ruby-pink and so rich and thick.
Raggae around the world, fills the tiny coffee house.
Marley jamming the night away, I shun the crowd
and sulk, all the time keeping perfect rhythm with my
feet.
I Open my Sketch Diary-notebook, it's time to create.
Just above my head, some artwork of one vestige cupid
within a cyan
colored
frame; he is standing there in summertime rain
I see what that cute little cupid is all about.
Can't help but know this is a good place for a poet to
hang out.
