Jean Grey: Life and Fire Incarnate

Madelyne Pryor   - Madelyne Pryor is a clone of Jean Grey created by Mr. Sinister. An unwitting pawn, Madelyne was placed in a position to meet Scott Summers and as a result fell in love with him. The two had a child, whom Sinister believed would be the ultimate mutant. When Scott left Madelyne for Jean Grey, Maddie was hunted down by the Maruaders sent by Sinister to dispose of his handiwork. They failed in their task and Maddie found herself with the X-Men under Storm's leadership. With them, she thrived until the demon S'ym corrupted her soul. With a part of the Phoenix Force still in her, she became the Goblyn Queen and plunged New York into her Inferno! During Inferno, she learned that she was a clone and commited suicide, refusing to be used by Sinister.

   Recently, she was brought back to life as a psychic construct by Nate Grey. She's been involved in a strange relationship with her otherworldly 'son' and has fallen in with the Hellfire Club. Her hate of the X-Men, and Jean Grey in particular, still remains.

Phoenix, Rachel Summers    - Rachel Summers is the daughter of Scott Summers and the Phoenix Entity from a possible future. She traveled back in time to try and prevent her apocalyptic future from coming to pass. She took the codename Phoenix, like her mother, and became a vessel for the Phoenix Force. After a long stay with the X-Men and then Excalibur, Rachel traveled back into the future, far past her own, and became the Mother Askani, a religious leader in the fight against Apocalypse. There she remains for the time being...

Phoenix Entity   - When Jean Grey piloted the crashing space shuttle back into the earth's atmosphere, she was confronted by the Phoenix Entity and replaced. While the Entity assumed her form and life, Jean was trapped in a cocoon under the Manhattan Bay. The Fantastic Four eventually found her, by which time the Phoenix Entity had commited suicide on the moon (at which point the Phoenix Force fled to Madelyne Pryor).

   Jean Grey was the first student of Xavier, and potentially the most powerful. In her lifetime, she has been killed, re-incarnated, cloned, and faced threats of devestating villiany. Recently, she has taken the codename and costume of Phoenix, in order to empower herself...
