Malzberg themes

I will eventually be posting a more detailed description of Malzberg's main themes (and the scenarios he uses to explore them), quoting examples of his works. For the moment here are some ideas that concerned Malzberg (once upon a time), in his own words (from one of his commentaries to which you can find a link below):

  1. Science fiction as the middle class revenge on working class fascism
  2. Science fiction not as sexual sublimation but as sexual archetype
  3. Science fiction as profoundly anti-technological at its heart
  4. Horace Gold as a figurehead for anti-Freudians trying to prove the Master's obsessions ridiculous
In the introduction to the story "The Man in the Pocket", Malzberg mentions some of his other obsessive themes:
  1. Miniaturization
  2. Paranoid astronauts
  3. Wives who know their husbands are crazy
  4. Husbands who know their wives are crazy
  5. Horse-racing and another Not to be Mentioned
He has also done more than a fair amount of work involving political assasinations. A partial list of these is:

NOVELS SHORT STORIES
Overlay (1972) The Ascension
The Destruction of the Temple (1974) Death to the Keeper
Underlay (1974) Major Incitement to Riot
Guernica Night (1974) - not containing assassination as such, but the character of long-deceased JFK appears Trashing
Agony Column
Overlooking
