9:40 p.m Ok folks, here's the deal. Believe it or not, but I worked up the nerve to scan those pics of yours truly. It took a while though! haha First I worked outside in my flowerbed, then came back in and figured I might as well go ahead and do it. *wincing* They aren't the best pics, but it will give ya an idea of what I look like dressed up in my trad outfit. I'll explain the more about the outfit....
There you have 3 pics of me, myself and I. If you have read the My Rambings page, you will have found out that my heritage is more than blended. *grin* So, when I decided to make this outfit, I wanted it to reflect my cultures. For me, it was a way to honor "all" of my ancestors, not just some of them. When I was born, my maternal grandfather, gave me my Cree name and a "colour." This is typical, the giving of traditional names and of colours (these are like personal colours that help to give you strength and so forth). My Cree name translated into English means "Golden Eagle Woman." The colour that was "given" to me at my birth was gold. So, on my outfit, there are gold beads. The red and black colours on my outfit have two reasons. One of my ancestors, used to paint the top part of his face black and from the bottom of the nose downwards was painted red. On my spiritual path, he has taught me a great deal. So to honor him, I choose red and black. The second reason why I choose red and black was to honor my German/Austrian ancestors. Now, back to the gold beads, to honor my Celtic & Germanic ancestors I beaded various Wiccan symbols along with Runes. Also, the three colours also represent life, death and rebirth. There, that pretty much sums it up.
Sorry, haven't posted the dates yet, will be doing that this evening.
Pow-wow season has begun, soon it will be in full swing! I have finally managed to update this particular page! I will be adding Pow-wow dates & locations later on. And, if I am brave enough, *grin* I will post a pic of me in my traditioanl woman's pow-wow outfit. I'll explain a little about my outfit and the reasons why I chose the colours that I did. But, we'll just have to see! Also, it is a good idea to call ahead and confirm the dates and locations of the powwow's; so when possible, I included telephone numbers.
