Wealth is usually measured in numbers, in things
seen, in actions
taken. We see the good deeds that are
accomplished by money, at least
those who share their wealth. It can be deeds
that save starving
children, or build buildings, or save the
environment, or care for the
four legged ones, or bring hope and comfort, or
new products. It can be
a savior to some when the wealth is used to
progress in medical ways
that bring knowledge and techniques that save
lives. When you think of
it, there are an incredible amount of ways that
money can be used to
beautify or make better the lives of others.
We all have our own special interests. We have
certain causes that we
share our wealth with and sometimes we are drawn
into conflict because
we cannot decide which is more deserving. The
need seems endless. It
goes on and on and in fact, because of this, some
people just give up
and stop donating at all. Perhaps we feel we
cannot share wealth as we
struggle to make ends meet and to care for those
who are our
responsiblities. It touches our lives in a daily
way if we must
constantly stretch what wealth we have or
struggle with the lack of it.
It can be such a painful way of living that we do
not even consider that
there is any way of sharing. All our thoughts
and efforts seem to be
focussed on surviving and when we get in 'over
our heads' we begin to
affect our lives in a very negative way.
What then does one do? How does one share wealth
if there is none to be
given? Simply by recognizing that wealth is not
material and is not
measured in dollars and cents. You each have
wealth. The wealth you
have is the individuality of YOU. There is no
one like you, there is a
uniqueness, a personality, and a spirit that is
you and that is the
wealth that you carry. Only you can give what
you have. Only you can
be what you are. Only you have a particular
wealth to give. That
wealth may be nothing more than a smile. That
wealth may be a
comforting word. That wealth may be some skill
you share. That wealth
may be your experience and wisdom. That wealth
is what you have to
give, what is in you. It costs no money, it is
always there, and the
only challenge is to find the ways and time to
give of yourself even as
you may struggle with the challenge of material
'wealth'. Think of your
wealth, think of what you can share, think of
what it is that you can
give. Comparing with others is not necessary,
just be what you are and
your wealth will shine like gold.
